Academy

The aim of the Academy is to teach players the skills of Futsal in a safe and friendly environment in order that they can reach their potential whilst having fun playing the game.

The Pirates co founding members, Zoran Mrdjan (FFA Level 1) and Mark Georgeson (FFA Level 2) were Victorian State Coaches at the 2010 Futsal Nationals. Zoran & Mark believe in teaching the players the philosopy of "TRAP, PASS & MOVE". When teaching these elements, players learn the Club's Style of Play. This style includes passing, how to move with and without the ball, knowing when and how to dribble, set plays and team strategies all with an emphasis on fitness and self discipline.

Only Academy players will be selected to represent the Bayside Pirates in the FFV's Melbourne Futsal League (MFL) and at the State Championships. Anybody can join the Academy and elect not to participate in the MFL, if they wish.

The Academy operates from January to September, with periodic breaks during the year. All players are assessed and then organised into their relevant skills and age groups.Training is on a Saturday afternoon and it lasts for one hour. The Coaches may extend the session times if there is an MFL match or tournament coming up.

The Academy is open to:

Sub Juniors aged 5 to 10 and Juniors aged 11 to 18

The subscription includes a Bayside Pirates Academy uniform and the annual FFV Insurance. Different uniforms are issued on a loan basis for representative matches. All players are expected to have their own Futsal shoes and shin guards.

The Pirates also provide coaching sessions for older players who are either new to the game or players who just want extra coaching. If you would like to attend some of these sessions to improve your skills, then simply contact Mark or Zoran.

SUBSCRIPTIONS

The annual subscription to join the Academy is $498.This can be paid in two payments of $249, with one payment due in February and the balance due in June. There are extra costs involved with participating in the MFL.For an extensive FAQ, please click onto Fixtures and look for the pdf link.

Salsa were without their regular Keeper and Captain, who was trying to keep warm in the northern German city of Hamburg, which seems a long way to go to get out of playing a double header! More double headers next week, as the Finals get closer. Damian heads the Fair Play List and the Golden Boot Award. He is the man to beat this term.
